Storm Watching from the Porch

Our house faces to the west. When my parents were picking out our lot, they chose it because they wanted to see the sun setting behind the mountains, and since it is at the top of a hill, it's a fantastic view! Little did they know, that it is a great place to watch a storm approach as well. Since generally the storms come in from the west, we can see them off in the distance and slowly, or sometimes quickly, get closer and closer. In the image to the upper left, is the storm that went over us today, and is where I got the other pictures below from. Blacksburg is the plus sign in the circle right there in front of the reds of the storm! My house is pretty much in the path of the center of the storm.

This is the storm off in the distance. It was probably about 20-25 minutes away at this point.

As it got closer, we started being able to see the rain on the mountains.

Soon, the mountains were out of sight from the downpour...

When it starts raining on the porch, it's time to go inside!

And then it pours!

It's nice when it is a low precipitation storm because then you can stay out on the porch and watch the lightning, listen to the thunder, and watch the clouds. It's very relaxing!

Over the past month I have made a few changes to my appearance.

One thing was, I've been needing to get new glasses since forever. I talked about my eye doctor trip about a month ago. It took them until last Wednesday for them to come back from the lab. So finally I've been able to see. For the last week I've been getting use to wearing my glasses, and most people seem to like them. I like them!

After I knew I would be getting new glasses, I decided I needed a new hair cut to go with my new glasses. So I got it cut just above the shoulders, and I love the cut! My friend Dawn has been raving about my hair cut. I also colored and highlighted it. I'm very happy with how it turned out. Kevin asked me to keep this as "my hair cut." Will do! Until I get bored with it and decide to get some other crazy hair cut like my cut last year, which was quite short.

My mom told me that for my birthday she was going to take me to get a make-up make over at the Clinque counter in Belk. I thought that would be cool, considering I usually just throw on a bit of bronzer and eye liner and call it a day. Or, I just go without make-up all together. Who needs it?! But I decided to go ahead and get the make over. She got me some face moisturizer, foundation, blush, lip gloss, and mascara. It's been fun wearing the make up and I like how it makes my eyes look with the glasses.

So as you can see above in the left hand corner, that is the finished product. That picture was from today at the Inn in Virginia Tech, we had a costume party where like...10 people dressed up.

My next thing is a root canal...not so much fun. :(
