Today was a very exciting day in that I got to drop Paleontology! Now, I was SO excited about this class. For many reasons. Mainly because I'm a huge Friends fan, and Ross is a Paleontologist, and I thought it would be so cool to know about what he did and all with dinosaurs. Problem one -- it's not about dinosaurs! What?! Yeah, I know. How lame is that? It's about any sort of fossils...from big mammal fossils to tiny itsy bitsy micro organisms that I have no idea how these people found in the first place, or why you would want to. I mean, these things were so small they had to start using Greek letters to explain how small they were. They also have ridiculous names like...dinoflaggulate or something like that. Anyway, it was all pretty confusing. Another reason I was taking it was for my Geology minor. I did some calculations, and in dropping it, it would not hurt my chances for getting all the credits I need for a Geology minor. It wasn't really geology oriented anyway. I really have not found these past 5 weeks in the course interesting at all. I also found out that the exam is short answer. What?! I'd have to memorize every detail of these tiny organisms that I don't care about at all. Yeah, no. Goodbye. So much for that. It's disappointing, really. I discussed it with my mom and she told me to drop it, so I am so relieved. Not to mention I have no class on Wednesdays and Fridays now, and only one class Monday, if you can even call it a class because it is a recitation for Psychology. So yay. Oh, and the lab was sooo horrible. It had a 30-40 minute lecture, then we drew pictures of fossils for an hour and a half, then we had to do an activity. I get it that we're suppose to look at features of the fossils, but drawing all those in a limited amount of time just made me look over features, and it was so horrible. AH! In labs I like to actually do real activities, with experiments and real learning! Anyway, it just sucked. I do not recommend it.
*new topic!*
I wish today had been Threadless Thursday. I am wearing:
And I got so many comments on it! I never get comments on Threadless because I'm usually wearing layers over it, or I never see anyone. I should have saved this shirt for Thursday! Actually...I'm wearing a more Valentine's day themed shirt for Thursday...naturally because it is Valentine's Day. But Birds & the Bees is just one of those shirts that you have to really pay attention to get, so people would look at it and would wonder what it meant, then they would go, "OH! HAHA!" Every time. I love this shirt. :) I try not to wear it to work though, because it might be a tad inappropriate. But it is totally fine for class. :)
My day is barely over, since I have a class next and then a meeting and other stuff. So, craziness! The meeting is about Storm Chasing this summer. They take some students out to where the tornados and big storms are, and we chase them...in a sense. They keep us totally safe, naturally, but I know it'll be so awesome. I can't wait to go. It's from May 11-31, so it is a long time away from Kevin, but I know it'll be worth it and it will look fantastic on my resume! So stay tuned for more about that!
