Happy New Years...from the airport

Status report -- stuck at the airport because the plane is an hour late. Kevin has been there since about 10:30/11:00 and walked around the beach and all over his hotel. He still hasn't gotten his room, they've been taking forever to get it ready for them. I know last night was New Year's Eve, but come on! He's been up for over 24 hours now, left around 3 to get to the airport at 6...am.

So if the plane ever gets there, we'll be going straight to practice on the beach. As much fun as that sounds, they are having a pool party right now without me. Oh well. I'm just glad we're going to Miami. Even though they will be having unusually cool weather.

Hopefully next time I'll be saying hey from South Florida!

~Taylor~

But not really, because Florida isn't really counted as a "Southern State."

I finally made it to Ft. Lauderdale though! YAY!

Our plane finally came and we all got out into this dinky little "terminal" and saw we were going to get on a dinky little plane. (SCARY!)

Looking out our "Terminal"

So we get on the plane and there is a tiny aisle and a row of single seats on the right and a row of double seats on the left. S-M-A-L-L. They even made us get our dinner before we got on the plane because there wouldn't be enough room to serve it when every one was on the plane!

Getting on the PlaneOur Dinky Plane
Little PlaneGross Airline Food

That last photo...ew...first of all, it smelled horrible! It made my stomach turn just smelling it...then looking at it was another story. And my stomach was already rolling because of how small the plane turned out to be!

It was neat though because they left the door to the cockpit open for us to see and go up and talk to the pilots if we wanted. Which we did. I went up with Kaitlyn and Katie, it was Katie's first flight! She told the head pilot that it was her first flight, and the head pilot says, "It's my first flight too!" We laughed nervously.

Cockpit

It was a pretty view from the window as we left Roanoke!

Bye Roanoke!

I also got a shot of Charleston, SC from the plane, but it didn't turn out too well. After Charleston we went over the ocean and I couldn't see anything out of my window but vast blackness...and an occasional cruise ship. That's what I get for sitting on the east side!

Landing we had to go through clouds, and that was pretty scary. Seeing thick, white clouds go very fast by the windows was very unsettling, not to mention the fact that the plane was shaking like crazy from the turbulence. I was freaking out! But we did land!

We've landed safely!

I tried getting my mom or brother to do the Richard Nixon impression...you know the two peace signs and all that. No luck.

We got to the hotel with enough time to throw stuff in rooms and get down to practice...great...no pool party for us.

Hotel Over Our Practice

That was our hotel in the background.

Since all that we've just been chilling in our room. Watching football and the sorts. Oh! And I got the hoodie, t-shirt, and mesh shorts we got for the game. So yay free stuff!

Happy New Year!!!

~Taylor~

This morning we left the hotel for Taravella High School, a local school about 30 or so miles away from our hotel. That was where we practiced our pre-game show for the game tomorrow. When we got there they didn't have the hash marks marked on their field. So we had to wait a while for them to get that done, our hour practice got shortened to half an hour. Not going to argue with that! It is really cold today in Florida! Warmer than back at home, yes, but it was suppose to be in the 80s! It is very windy too.

When we got back I changed out of my fun "Lazy Bones" pj bottoms i wore to practice and put on some jeans to go to lunch. I went with Amanda and a bunch of others down to the deli at the hotel and we crossed the street to the beach and ate there. I decided I wanted to see if the seagulls would come over if I held up a piece of my turkey. They didn't and Amanda freaked out about me holding it so close to the table, so I threw it away from the table thinking they would focus on the turkey and not where it came from. Well...not only did a sea gull come for it, but he brought the entire beach-full of sea gulls to stare us down for more scraps. They would fly up and peek at our table too! Needless to say...I made a mistake. Finally Jersey, that's his nickname and I don't know his real name, ran after the sea gulls to scare them away. It worked for the most part, and they wouldn't let me throw turkey anymore.

The beach was beautiful though. The ocean is a really pretty blue and the beach and palm trees are gorgeous. Makes you think is should be warm! I should of brought my "Think Warm" threadless shirt! Tomorrow is my first installment of "Threadless Thursdays"!!! I'll be wearing a threadless shirt every Thursday for the rest of the year. We'll see how it goes anyway. I brought two to decide on, but since it is so chilly around here, they might not be seen due to being under many other layers of clothing!

We'll be headed to the Fan Fest soon and then we'll be back to the hotel for the rest of the evening. Kevin is coming over! :) I'm really excited to see him and we might meet up with Christin, she isn't staying too far from our hotel. It'll be good to see her.

More later! :)

~Taylor~

Yesterday afternoon we all got on buses to head over to downtown Miami for the Fan Fest. Kevin had told me that the football team was not going, either was the scheduled Frank Beamer...to good for your fans?! So I didn't see any point to this Fan Fest, and it must have not been all that important since the Hokie Club was having their reception at the same time. But we went anyway, and stood out in the freezing wind for what seemed like forever until we finally were able to perform. While we were waiting the tubas realized a camera on top of a police vehicle was moving, so when it would rotate toward them they would cheer and get all excited. Apparently some cops in the car took a picture of them with the camera and gave it to them. That was pretty funny. So when we finally got to go in, we stood in front of the stage. But they didn't have the area roped off for us, so we had to push fans out of the way, and it was really cramped and not too much fun. After we played the "Corona Girls" came out and threw out shirts, visors, and cups. I got a cup. After a little girl started dancing to Soulja Boy on stage we ended up leaving.

After we got back a bunch of us ordered pizza. It was not as good as the dominos back home, but I ended up eating about 6 pieces anyway. I was hungry!!! Kevin made it over, I was so excited! We hung out and watched WVU pulverize Oklahoma. It was really good to see him. Christin ended up going somewhere else so we didn't hang out, but I didn't feel like going outside in the freezing cold anyway. I had really wanted to go out on the beach with Kevin and walk along the water...but that wasn't going to happen when the temperature was dropping at quite a fast rate.

He left later and I passed out from being so tired.

And now it is GAME DAY!!!!!!!!!

We don't leave until 3:30, so we have the morning/afternoon to do whatever we want. There is a tailgate later, that should be fun...plus it is free food!

~Taylor~

For the first Threadless Thursday I wore:

Foxy - Threadless, Best T-shirts Ever

I didn't get any pictures of me in it...with the shirt visible anyway. Since I was in Miami, and it was cold, I wore a sweatshirt, then it was time for the Orange Bowl, and I wore my uniform. But I did wear it!!!

It didn't bring us any luck...considering we lost. 24-21. Not the best game...but still a fun experience!

I would also like to use these Threadless Thursday posts to talk about the new shirts that came out on the Monday before!

threadlessdec31.jpg

I especially thought that Treasured

Treasured - Threadless, Best T-shirts Ever

was pretty funny. I don't know if I like it on the grey, but it makes me giggle all the same.

So all in all I didn't really like them enough to buy. Better luck next week, huh?!

~Taylor~

I was planning on giving a summary of the rest of the trip...but the outcome of the game kind of ruined that for me. 24-21...if we had just gone for the touchdown instead of the field goal! We had such great momentum! Oh well. You win some you lose some. And we seem to like to lose in Bowl Games.

Tomorrow night...well tonight, rather...is the Championship game...which we blew chances of going to that with the BC game. I'm pulling for Ohio State. I have family that are huge buckeye fans, and LSU beat us...so they need to lose. So GO OHIO STATE!

There are a bunch of pictures up from last week on flickr...you can go to that fun little flickr badge to the right to see them. I got some fun shots from the sky in the plane!

Classes start back up in a week...joy. 18 credit hours...what am I thinking?!

~Taylor~

I looked on blackboard today to see if any of my classes were showing up yet, and one was. Statstics.

First of all, that word is just really hard to say! I get all tongue tied. My mom likes to call it "sadistics" like it is evil...I suppose that is how you'd spell it. So, that kinda freaks me out.

I downloaded the syllabus to check that out, a few things seem a little strange.

Under course materials it lists things that are required and recommended. One of the things on the required list is a large eraser...and on the recommended list is the text book. That just seems strange, and the teacher as little faith in us, obviously, if he makes a LARGE eraser required. What defines a large eraser anyway? One of those funny shaped pink erasers we always had in grade school? Or bigger than that? I guess we'll find out next tuesday.

Also, he talks about how grades will be established and writes a little disclaimer type thing, "At the end of the semester, students will add up their respective points to create their course grade. Each student is guaranteed at least the grade according to the scale below. (90+= A. 80-90= B, etc.) However, the official, final grade is based on "the sole prerogative of the professor" (VT undergraduate handbook)." Does that mean if he doesn't like us he can choose to change the grade if he feels like it?! I just think that is weird. I hope that only works for the better!

For exams we have to bring our VT ID card. I've never had to do that before. Seems the professor is not very trusting. He already mentions above that how the honor code will be strictly followed and anyone caught violating the honor code will immediately fail the class and be prosecuted to the extent of the university's law. And if we forget the ID, which I often accidently leave it in jean pockets and such, we aren't allowed to take the exam!

Though I do think one thing on here is pretty cool. He says students should be on time, and if atleast one student has finished the exam and left the room, they can't take it and will get a zero. I would have never thought of that. Because that student who already finished could take the answers to the late student. Wicked!

Another neat thing is, "Quizzes will be administered based on student performances of the daily spong activity. If the professor feels that the student(s) failed to understand the concepts covered in the activity, a quiz will be administered in the next lecture or over the Blackboard system. At the end of the semester, any unused quiz points will be added to the students' final grade absolutely free..." That seems pretty neat. Let's hope we have a smart class and need to quizzes so we can get all the extra points!

Last thing is at the very bottom of the syllabus, he gives advice, and the last bullet is, "Get a homework partner no matter how smart, shy, quiet, or outgoing you are. Your professor cannot be your homework partner." I hate having partners in any sense. I can work with people, but I'd rather do my own work on my own, so that is kind of lame. I told Kevin he'd be my homework partner, since Kevin did really well in Statistics. The professor never said it had to be someone in the class! :)

Sorry about all that, but I'm bored and wanted to discuss some of those things! :)

~Taylor!~

To make up for it, here is a FOUND!:

My mom said I just had to blog about this. Actually, she said I had to put it on facebook, but she really meant on here because she said something about "timeinablog."

She was on msnbc.com or one of those sites, and she was looking at the list of other news items and she saw, "Cow with College Logo on Head" or something along those lines. She clicked on it and it was a story about a Cow with a VT on his head!

Apparently he has been to a restaurant opening. My mom thought that was sick because they were probably serving burgers in there!

~Taylor~

Yesterday Kevin and I filmed the first episode of Weather Wonders. It's an educational video podcast about weather. I am somewhat of a newb at videocasting. While, I've been a weather girl on VTTV, Virginia Tech Television, I still get freaked out when a camera is pointed at me and I have to speak. So, I think we squeeked out a first episode and that should be up soon. Kevin edited most of it together last night! So look for that!

Today's threadless shirt is:

Loch Ness Imposter - Threadless, Best T-shirts Ever

I thought it would be good to wear today because it is rainy and cold in Blacksburg, VA...just like Scotland usually is!

I haven't really been showing it around much, so no comments on it yet...it is really chilly at my work right now, so sweatshirt has been on the whole time!

This weeks threadless shirts!

threadjan07.JPG

I don't really want any of these this week again. While some I like, I don't think I would wear them. A popular one, according to the stock chart is

Be A Panda - Threadless, Best T-shirts Ever

I almost considered getting this one, but I think it would look too weird. Plus I don't really like light colored shirts too much, because they are see-thru!

I can't wait to see what they come out with next though! :)

~Taylor~

Yes, ladies and gentleman, Kevin is back into the blog world.

kevin.JPG

I'm just that excited, because his blogs are really fun to read. He's really good with words. He talks about technology a lot, because...that's Kevin. So I encourage you to check it out as he gets back in the swing of things! And trust me, I'm going to keep on him to keep updating! :)

Twins

Last week, Kevin and I went to watch a movie at his house...Airplane!. When Kevin took it out of the Netflix envelope, it looked like this!

From Netflix

Poor DVD! We reported it to Netflix and were sad we didn't get to watch it. You'd think the mail carriers would know that the netflix envelopes have fragile items in them!

We finally got another disc of Airplane and were able to watch it last night. Yay! We love having netflix, and we've watched so many different movies because of it! :) It's just disappointing to get a broken DVD...or the wrong DVD! That also happened to us once.

~Taylor~

Kevin has a sneak peak of the first episode of Weather Wonders on his blog! CHECK IT OUT! :)

Today is the last day of freedom for a while. And it isn't really even that since I have meetings this evening. At least I get the afternoon with Kevin. :)

We saw Enchanted last night at the lyric. I LOVED IT! :) I wouldn't mind seeing it again. I ran into one of my neighbors, Alyssa, and she said it was her fourth time seeing it. HOLY CROW! But, I'm definitely buying it when it comes out on DVD :)

~Taylor~

So semester Spring 2008 has started. It sort of started last night with two meetings. There was a joint meeting between KKY and TBS about honor band coming up and other various things. This is a busy semester since we have districts in March, but as soon as those pass it should greatly quiet down! Which is good because I'm sure I will be busy class wise. Then we had a regular TBS meeting. Where some random girl came in and asked us if we were a sorority. We say, yes. She says, oh okay...and babbles on about something and another and how Steph and Alex are Beta Gamma's. I don't know, but eventually we convinced her that we were not who she thought we were. Although we do have a Stephanie and an Alex, neither of which are Beta Gamma's! We also had one of our members quit, so that was sad, but we knew it was coming.

Today...first day of classes. Oh the joy of it all. Kevin met me at work and we went to class on the bus together since we start class at the same time and in the same general area. I think we should keep it up as some sort of Monday morning tradition. :) He dropped me off at Williams while he continued over to Hancock. I found the class easily, I looked at a map! I know, us geography majors! There wasn't too many people in the room yet. I took my seat and killed time by checking emails and such on my macbook. The class filled up and soon it was almost time for class to start...but no TA. It's a recitation, so that is how I knew it would be a TA and not a normal professor teaching. A few minutes past and I knew after 15 minutes, if no teacher showed up we could leave. So I waited quietly, when someone toward the back of the room says, "How long before you would start to leave?" I knew right away it was the TA playing some sort of game. This class was Psychology, so naturally he played with our minds. He pointed out how all of us were sitting there quietly just waiting, and how we looked like idiots since the teacher wasn't there. I didn't like that part so much, especially since I was watching my clock waiting for the 15 minutes to pass until I could leave. He mentioned how if a few of us were talking, we'd probably all be talking, or if one of us left, we'd probably all start to leave. All in all it was an interesting introduction to the class, but maybe one I would have been better prepared for if I had actually been to the lecture part of Psychology before the recitation. I'll be doing that tomorrow. I did have a chance to make a funny during the class...while it was stupid, I couldn't help to say it, I probably get it from my mom. :) He picked up my pencil and talked about the different variables to be considered for calculating how the pencil falls. The whole time I was hoping he wouldn't actually drop my pencil...he never did! We mentioned how you would consider gravity, air resistance, etc. Then he turned to me and asked if my body mass would affect the pencil falling...and I knew what he meant, but I couldn't help but say, "Yes, if I was under it blocking its path." He chuckled and rolled his eyes. Apparently me sitting there would affect the pencil falling...even if I wasn't in its path. His point was that there are a lot of factors to consider about how a pencil drops, but if was try to consider all the factors about how the mind works it becomes...well...mind boggling. Basically, psychology is complex. It was an interesting lecture and the TA, Tom I think his name was, really knew what he was talking about. The one thing that really bugged me was that he moved around constantly and went up and down the aisles...he kept stopping right next to my desk and it drove me crazy! I like to look at the teacher's face while they are talking, but it is really hard to do that when I have to arch my neck all the way back to do that! So, it just peeved me a little. Hopefully I can get over it quickly.

We got out about 15 minutes early so I had a half an hour before my next class, Paleontology. I went ahead over to Derring since it was right down the path and under the bridge from Williams. I took the elevator, since the class was on the fourth floor, but I might stop and just huff up the stairs for the exercise. I got there and the class before ours was still in session, so I waited on some couches outside the hallway. I found the class easily again because of my awesome map skills. I watched one girl who turned out to be in the same class walk practically all around the floor trying to find it, when there was a floor layout right there! Goodness. Anyway, the class before ours finally got out and we went in to take our seats. A lot of the people in my class seemed to already know each other and I felt I was intruding. Luckily my big sister (in TBS) is also in this class...ironically, we didn't do it on purpose, and so I knew I'd have someone to chum around with like they did. Sarah called me to make sure I saved her a seat, naturally I already had a seat saved for her. There was some guy who was fiddling with the projector putting up slides and such that did not seem fit with the class...Paleontology. I was nervous I was in the wrong place, but I had overheard others in the class saying they were there for Paleontology too. Finally the teacher came in, who I had last year for Earth and Life Through Time, and scared the guy off. I think he had a class after ours. As usual, it was hard to understand this professor. He's asain, and has that accent, but at the same time it comes out a little british too. You'd have to hear it to understand. He explained his life story, and even gave us a timeline of textbooks he has been using since beginning to teach this class. It was all very enlightening. I hope you hint the sarcasm. Finally he started talking about the actual class. I think it will be interesting. The labs seem a little much though, but it is a 3000 level, so I suppose fits in. We don't have lab this week, so I'm excited about that, especially since American Idol starts this week! However, I haven't heard of them having a second show on Wednesday like usual. We'll see. Anyway, he let us out early too, Sarah made me walk down the stairs...which she was right, it wasn't bad going down. We parted ways and I went to the bus stop, barely missing the bus I wanted to get on, so I got to wait 10 more minutes in the cold wind until the next one came by. At least the sun is out and that warmed it up a bit.

That's it for my first day. Well, except I have composites tonight for Tau Beta Sigma. That'll be a complete bore...I don't see why I need to be there the entire time, but whatever.

Tomorrow will be my super long day with five classes! At least after I get through all that the premiere of Idol will be airing! :) And then I only have ONE class Wednesday because we won't have lab that evening. Thrilling.

~Taylor~

This FOUND reminds me of me when I was in middle school, oops!

Since Tuesday bring a whole new set of classes, it was my second first day!

I left the house at 7:10 to park at work to walk over to the bus stop. When I left the house it was flurrying. I get the next street over and it comes down even harder, I get to work and it is blizzard like. Walking to the bus stop I walked about two steps from my car and my front was covered with snow! I kept brushing it off, but it would just pile back on, so instead I decided to focus on keeping the snow away from my face so I could see. I finally made it to the semi-cover of the bus stop and waited for the Tom's Creek A bus to come. The warmth of the bus when it finally came was very appreciated. And there was only about three other people on the bus that early so I had my pick of seats! The bus ride was very interesting. Especially because it was snowing so hard and it was all over the road...I thought for sure the bus would hit a bad spot and go spinning out of control. It didn't luckily. The bus changes routes to go around the drill field at nine, since it was before then, we took the long route around campus then back on the drill field. I didn't need to get off until the very last stop of the route so I got the scenic tour of the edge of Virginia Tech in the snow! On the way we passed a guy walking around in SHORTS...it was in the 20s and snowing. HELLO?! No. I also got to see Parking Services in action. It was practically blizzard conditions and this parking service lady was going to give this guy a ticket no matter if it was going to be soaked by the snow! They don't ticket in the rain, why is snow any different? Poor guy. We finally got to Torgersen, my stop, so I had to face the snow again. This time for not as long. I got into McBryde and celebrated the warm air!

I easily found the class room and settled into a seat, and what luck when I saw that the desks had plugs attached to them! I had been worried about how my macbook would last through five classes. Class started and we discussed what families were, it is Family Relationships, so that made sense that would be the first topic. Then she explained genograms. It's a more in depth version of a family tree. With lines that stand for how the relationships between the family members are. She had an example version up and had us all guess about what happened with the family. The dad was distant from his parents, but the mom was very close to her parents, but her mom was dead. Then the dad was close to his son, there was a riff between him and his middle daughter, and he was distant from his youngest daughter, where the mom was close to the son and youngest daughter and very close to the middle child. The mom and the dad had grown distant from each other. It's hard to get without the picture, but we basically got creative and starting saying how maybe the dad had an affair and the mother found out, but the son wasn't too upset about it, and that is why the dad and him stayed close, but the girls sided with the mother so that is why there were issues with the dad. OR, the mom had an affair, and while the son is the dad's, the two girls are actually from another relationship and the dad suspects. Some crazy things came from it. Eventually, toward the end of the discussion, she confessed it was her family genogram. Everyone seemed to all go, "oops" at once. I think the class will be interesting, so I'm excited about it. Which is good for an 8 am!

We got out 30 minutes early, so I sat around waiting for Mountain Geography. It was cold out in the hall with everyone opening the door coming out and in. By the looks of the people coming in, it was still snowing. I'm excited about Mountain Geography because I love the mountains! Nothing too interesting happened in that class. We went over the syllabus and and an introduction to the course. We got out really early in that class too.

I headed over to my next class, still all in McBryde. The teacher seems VERY interesting. He's the old kind of funny...if that makes sense. First off, NEVER be late to his class, he says it about a bazillion times in the syllabus, funny thing is people kept coming in late and he'd say "we were just discussing punctuality." Awesome thing about his class...four exams, he drops the lowest grade. So if you do well on the first three, you don't have to take the final! That is definitely my goal! Plus he gives you extra point questions as long as you fill your student ID out right on the scantron for exams. Oh, this class is Sociology. So it should be quite interesting. We also filled out this Sociology IQ quiz that the teacher had made up. I made a little survey here if you'd like to fill it out and see how you do! It is completely anonymous, so don't worry if you think I'll make fun of you or anything for your answers! :) We got out early in that class too! He is so concerned about punctuality that he said if he is ever two minutes late, we can leave immediately. Cool :)

I headed over to Squires...first time back outside since the snow storm. It was sunny out, but still very windy and cold, and most of the snow seemed to have blown away or melted. I got a seat in a decent sized auditorium in Squires, it was pretty empty, but that did not last long. Practically every seat was filled. Nothing exciting happened. So, blah about that. Haha. It was over early, naturally, and I waited for my lunch date (Amanda) at the couches. Lynn ended up kicking my toe! OW! Amanda then showed up and we headed over to the bus stop to be super lazy to go to West End, a dining hall on the other side of campus. We ran into Jenn on our way, and while we were talking I noticed Tyrod Taylor was waiting for the bus too. Amanda is IN LOVE with Tyrod Taylor. It's like our own little campus celebrity siting! We were waiting for the Hokie Express, but we saw him get on the CRC bus, which let off the same stop we were going to get off at anyway. Amanda sent a text message to about everyone she knows that she was on a bus with Tyrod Taylor. He was with about three other football players too. We couldn't figure out who they were. They got off at the same stop we did, but went into their dorm and we went into West End.

Lunch was fantastic. Spaghetti with meat sauce, garlic bread, and a strawberry smoothie. West End's smoothies are SOOOOO GOOOD! Believe me. If you don't, go get one! Kevin surprised me by showing up! His glass got out majorly early so he came over to West End! Amanda decided she wanted to have a graphing calculator for our Statistics class since he said we had to have it for the first class, so we all went down to the bookstore. She got her calculator, and we hoped on the bus to go back over to Litton Reeves, Kevin got off at Burruss for his last class.

Statistics wasn't too exciting either. I was just extremely glad when it was over 25 minutes early. Kevin was nice enough to take Amanda and I to my car on his way out!

So, it was an exhausting day...and very long.

And now AMERICAN IDOL IS ON!!! :)

~Taylor~

So I'm finally getting a chance to blog about my new cell phone! I said goodbye to my old phone

Old Phone ClosedOld Phone Open

Saturday. Our contract ended on the 12th, so we got to renew it and get new phones! I had been wanting a Juke since the first time I saw the ad for it. Good advertising I suppose! Then when I found out in came in TEAL, I was hooked. Hook, line, and sinker. I remember randomly telling my mom I wanted one and that I hoped our contract ended soon so I could get one. Time passed and it was almost Christmas. My mom handed me an empty box, I've already discussed this on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve. Anyway, so we went up to Roanoke on Saturday to get the phone. All the while my mom is telling me it might be cheaper to get it online and if so, we'd do that. But I didn't like that because I'd have to wait for it even LONGER. Luckily we found out the only difference between getting it in the store and getting it online, is that online the rebate is instant, where with the store you have to mail it in. No big deal. So I finally got my Juke!!!

New Phone ClosedFlipped Open

I love it. I'm still getting use to opening it. I often forget which way it flips open! But, I'm really enjoying having it. The only thing wrong with it is it has practically NO ring tones on it. It has a few, but nothing good. So I might have to talk with my mom about buying some online, or through the phone...however it works. I have definitely been showing it off. The most common comment about it is, "It is so tiny!" And it really is. It's "Taylor Sized" as Kevin would say.

~Taylor~

We are currently having winter weather in Blacksburg, VA. This means snow, sleet, and freezing rain. This morning around 5-6 inches of snow fell, maybe more, now ice is accumulating on top of that. This morning, there was already a few inches on the ground when I left to go to work to drop off my car before I walked to the bus stop. The ground was covered with snow all over, and none of the roads had been cleared yet. I tromped through the snow to the bus stop hoping the BT was actually running because I hadn't seen any buses on my way to class. It was, and we slowly moved toward campus. I don't understand why I was going to class to begin with because it was really slick on the roads. Now that it is icing, my 3:30 is still on unless the University decides to shut down. We are the only school in the area, college or grade school, that is still in session. At least Band-a-rama practice was canceled for tonight. Now I'm crossing my fingers they'll do away with, or at least postpone Honor Band so I can get all my hours for work tomorrow.

I hope to get pictures of campus on my way to class, so look for those soon! :)

Thursday I wore:

...Watching My Back - Threadless, Best T-shirts Ever

I considered wearing my Think Warm shirt because we had a ton of snow and ice, but it wasn't clean...so I stuck with that I was originally going to wear. I thought it would be fun to wear this shirt on our first Thursday back in class because I generally sit towards the front of class and then a bunch of people, bored from their lecture, would randomly look around the room and see it and chuckle a little inside. No one said anything to me about it, but, it's one of my favorite shirts because I love the color of it!

Making Work Fun - Threadless, Best T-shirts Ever

I think it is so funny, but if I had to I could live without it. I just want it to have it. I'm not wanting it nearly as much as the one above.

That's my little blurb! Go buy some shirts!

After the tiredsome and seemingly never ending week last week, I also had a busy weekend. The busy weekend was going to start Thursday evening with a Band-a-rama practice, but luckily it got canceled due to bad weather. So the weekend began Friday morning at 8am instead.

This past weekend was Honor Band weekend. It's where a bunch of little middle schoolers and high schoolers from far and wide (Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, and I think I met someone from North Carolina) come to Virginia Tech to audition and play in various bands in a learning experience. These are some of the best players from each school getting together. Then at the end of the weekend they throw a concert for their families and directors and such. The three music organizations (Tau Beta Sigma, Kappa Kappa Psi, and Delta Omicron) help to run the weekend. Being in Tau Beta Sigma, naturally I was there. I helped to escort the arriving students to their various warm up areas before their auditions. So much fun! When I left at noon, students were still arriving, and they had to have their auditions done soon, because which band you were in was posted at 1:45. I went out with Kevin for lunch, which was a nice break from anything resembling work, since I was on my way to work.

Later it was time for Band-a-rama. Yes, it was still on even though we had not practiced for it. But we had just done one this past September, so it ran pretty smoothly anyway. But it was nice to be done with it and go home and hang out with Kevin the rest of the night.

The following morning it was more honor band. I had to take the piccolos and saxophones from Haymarket over to their master classes, and then sit and wait until they were finished just in case they needed something. Oh that was a joy. But the saxes made pretty sounds from their room, so that was nice to listen to. I was relieved to be done with that.

I got to go home and nap before I had to get ready for Band Banquet, better known as Bandquet in the bandie world. This is where we all get together with dates and are all dressed up and celebrate the end of the season. There are awards and food and dancing. Best of all, my dad, better known as Slide-show-Bob, puts on a slide show of all the pictures he has taken throughout the season. I got a few of my pictures in this season! :) It was a lot of fun. I wore my prom dress from my senior prom. I was excited I still fit in it!

Sunday TBS and KKY all got together again and had lunch with our district officers. They were visiting us because we have districts at Virginia Tech this year! That was the most hilarious lunch I've had in a while. First it started that those of us at my table (Lisa, Sarah, and Stephanie and me) were pretty hungry, and the district officers were pretty late (they were in a meeting before lunch and it ran late), but we were told only to order drinks, not to order any sandwiches yet. So we ordered a con ceso! It's an appitizer, and not a sandwich. We decided we needed to build a fort on the edge of our table to others would not be able to eat our appitizer. So we made the fort out of menus. It was really random looking, but it worked. The district officers finally showed up and we ordered our sandwiches, the table beside us got their food before us and I saw an abandoned pickle laying on a plate all alone. So I told Lisa to steal it for me. She decided she wanted some of it too and tried to break it in half, that didn't happen...so we each took an end and bit into it. Lisa goes, "Two Girls One Pickle!" It was funny. A ton of other stuff happened that might not be too appropriate to put up on this PG blog, but just believe me, it was funny. The waitress we were sure to give a big tip, and it was almost 50% tip from me and Sarah! There was probably 30-40 of us there. So it was madness!

You must be thinking, well, that was Sunday so it was probably the end of her long weekend. Well, you would be WRONG! Because Monday was MLK day and we did not have class! So Tau Beta Sigma got together and had a "brunch." I made Preacher Cookies (YUMMMM) and Corn Bread for the Brunch. It was a very yummy and fun brunch. If this was a preview of what retreat will be like, then it will be quite fun! Though I'm sure it is usually fun, but last time I went I was a pledge, so it's probably different now that I know everyone and that I'm a sister.

That was the end of my weekend.

I love having only three days of classes this week! I'm going to the nationally televised VT vs. Duke Basketball game tomorrow with Dawn! So that should be fun, even though I hate basketball. :)

I wore:

Think Warm - Threadless, Best T-shirts Ever

I finally washed it, and since, naturally, it was suppose to snow and all that again this Thursday I decided it would be appropriate to wear! It was indeed very cold, and boy did it snow. It was a very light dusting after it was all said and done, but it came down pretty hard for a while, and it was very windy! I was definitely thinking warm!

I like two from this week! Like I did last week! :)

Arctic Spa - Threadless, Best T-shirts Ever

It's so cute :) Sharon told me she bought it! I think it is her first threadless shirt. Congrats Sharon!

The second one I probably like just because I'm in Paleontology right now, but it's still hilarious! :)

ABCs - Threadless, Best T-shirts Ever

I'm hoping they'll have another sale soon! I want so many and it would be fabulous to get them for $10 instead of $17!!! :) Last year for Valentine's day they had a sale where if you get two of the same shirt you could get them for $10 each. But Kevin and I never really want the same shirt, although we do have two of the same threadless shirts, Cookie Loves Milk and Well This Just Really Sucks...! We'll see in the coming weeks! :)
